Case Study / Section 03: Private Label Engineering & Custom Manufacturing
Atelier Purcell Private Label Manufacturing
Engineering and fabricating a bespoke furniture portfolio for Atelier Purcell. Translating designer drawings into physical realities through in-house DFM, engineered wood substrates, hidden joinery, and luxury finishes.
01 / The Challenge
Atelier Purcell's high-end portfolio is defined by monumental scale, sweeping surface transitions, and ultra-minimalist lines that leave zero room for exposed fasteners or visible structural bulk.
The primary challenge was taking high-level design drawings and establishing an agile, in-house manufacturing pipeline. Every piece—ranging from massive conference and dining tables to low-profile consoles—demanded rigorous DFM engineering to support large surface spans and control material movement while preserving clean aesthetic reveals.

02 / DFM & In-House Manufacturing
Concealed Structural Joinery
Engineered internal wood sub-frames and hidden joinery to support large sweeping cantilevers and expansive tabletops without visible hardware.
Engineered Wood Cores
Utilized custom engineered wood products and floating sub-assemblies to stabilize large solid timber surfaces against natural humidity changes and warping.
Multi-Material Finishing
Executed precision hand-finishing processes combining select hardwoods, patinated metals, and custom lacquers to meet luxury contract standards.
03 / Impact & Scale
- Broad Custom Portfolio: Successfully engineered and manufactured over one hundred bespoke designs directly from designer drawings to completed installations.
- Zero Aesthetic Compromise: Integrated all primary structural support systems internally to maintain fluid, sweeping silhouettes and clean edge profiles.
- Turnkey Private Label System: Created a reliable, high-yield in-house pipeline that translates external design vision into production-ready physical furniture.
