01 / The Challenge

Laminated bamboo offers remarkable structural strength, but unlocking its visual potential requires careful subtractive manufacturing and thoughtful joinery detailing.

The primary challenge was engineering a dining system with exceptional geometric harmony: crafting a low-backed chair that sits perfectly flush with the tabletop when stored, where the backrest angle precisely mirrors the perimeter bevel of the table.

Butcher-Block CNC Carving

Constructed butcher-block style bamboo laminates and developed custom 3D CNC toolpaths to carve the organic contours, revealing striking internal grain variations.

Tactile Mill-Mark Finish

Intentionally retained subtle CNC machining passes across seating surfaces, turning tool marks into a micro-textured feature for added tactile warmth and comfort.

Precision Mating Geometry
